Young students in today’s schools are often taught to fall in line, go with the flow, and believe everything they are told. However, this is not the Christian way. While scripture commends submission to authority, our default setting should be to stand Contra Mundum; against the world. In order to do so, our children need good examples of courage, valor, and reverence. This is what the Grammar School program seeks to bestow.
In this 27 week program, students are introduced to the very basics of Latin in Storybook Latin by Logos Press. Additionally, students will learn key concepts of the English language with Nancy Wilson's Our Mother Tongue. Under the pillar of Logic they will study various logical fallacies with The Fallacy Detective by Nathaniel and Hans Blueborn. For rhetoric, the students will read through what we here at Poietes think is the most foundational series for Christian children; The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Students will read through all seven books in this series and present on various chapters, themes, literary components, and character analysis. Finally, in the theology strand students will work through Church history with Trial and Triumph by Richard Hannula. These particular curricula are handpicked to begin shaping students toward lives of service to Christ and their fellow man.

In this 36 week program students embark on the long, hard road of mastery. The first year will test their mettle, and mental fortitude. In grammar class, students will either begin or continue a study of Ecclesiastical and Classical Latin with Kraken Latin 1 by Natali Monnette. This coursebook is both a great refresher for students who have begun a study of Latin, and for those students to whom Latin is an all new ball game.
In Logic class, student will learn the art and science of reasoning well with Introductory Logic by Canon Press.
Rhetoric class is perhaps the most comprehensive class in the first year. While logic and Latin are difficult, rhetoric is thorough. The primary focus in the first year is British Literature, the mystery genre, and the art of poetry. Students will read such works as P. G. Wodehouse' Right Ho, Jeeves, Beowulf, Sherlock Holmes, and many more.
Finally, in theology class students will work towards obtaining a basic knowledge of the structure and flow of the entirety of scripture. In order to do so, they will use R. C. Sproul's What's in the Bible? While this book seems large and intimidating, tutors carefully guide students through the work to help them better understand God's word.

In this 36 week program, students begin moving into a phase of learning where their education truly blooms. With the foundations of both English and Latin established in their first year, students continue to master language and their knowledge of words through the use of Kraken Latin 2 by Natalie Monnette.
The second year of logic dives even deeper into the methods of Aristotelian logic with Intermediate Logic by Canon Press. The aim of logic in the second year is to help students understand hypothetical syllogisms and much more. Thus, students learn to think, debate, and argue well.
As in the first year, rhetoric class is, perhaps, the most comprehensive as it covers a large amount of literature. The second year focus in rheotric is split in two: The first sememster focuses on more British Literature; and the second semester focuses on classic American literature. Students will read such works as Oscar Wilde's Picture of Dorian Gray, Sir Gawain and the Green Night, White Fang by Jack London, and many more.
Finally, Second Year theology focuses on learning the Christian faith through the Heidelberg Catechism. To aid in this study, students work through Kevin Deyoung's The Good News We Almost Forgot. This year's theology class seeks to create young Christians who are strong in their faith, and develope deeper relationships with Christ.
